“Using science and technology to reduce tailings ponds: Alberta’s government has received the first recommendations to help speed up oil sands mine water management and tailings pond reclamation.”

On June 12, 2025, the Minister of Environment and Protected Areas released recommendations of the Oil Sands Mine Water Steering Committee to accelerate the clean up of the oil sands tailings ponds. ASI was invited to participate with this committee over the past several months and we appreciate their extensive work on this important matter for all Albertans.

Aqua Solutions believes our work on deep well disposal is complementary to work industry has been pursuing toward reclamation of the tailing ponds. We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with industry on the recommendations from the Water Steering Committee.
